From San Francisco to Belgium: Isaac Garcia’s story at RentMore
Isaac Garcia has been a valuable member of the RentMore team for nearly a decade. With a background in furnished accommodations spanning almost 20 years, Isaac’s journey from San Francisco to Belgium has shaped him into a dedicated and versatile professional. His experiences and insights offer a unique perspective on what makes RentMore a leader in the rental industry.
“My name is Isaac Garcia, and I’ve been working at RentMore for about eight or nine years, almost from the very beginning. I started as a commercial and rental agent, acting as a contact person between tenants and property owners. Over the years, my role has evolved to focus more on technical aspects and after-sales support, where I handle problem-solving and ensure client satisfaction.
My journey in the furnished accommodation sector began almost 20 years ago in San Francisco, where I worked for a small company managing around a hundred apartments annually. It was a fantastic experience that I loved. When I decided to move to Belgium, I was fortunate to find work in the same industry.
Belgium has been my home for 17 years now. When we moved here, it was a big decision, motivated by the high cost of living in San Francisco. The transition was smooth, though the first two winters were particularly challenging! However, the warmth and welcome I’ve received have made it all worth it.
At RentMore, a typical day for me starts with coming into the office and catching up on emails and phone calls. From there, I schedule and attend appointments, whether it’s meeting with tenants to ensure they’re settled in comfortably, or discussing property management with owners. A significant part of my job involves being out on-site, visiting our various properties to oversee operations, solve technical issues, and make sure everything is running smoothly. I also assist colleagues when they need help with anything related to a specific property. The variety in my daily tasks is what I enjoy the most – I never know how the day is going to end, and the unexpected challenges keep the work exciting.
“Clear communication is essential to avoid misunderstandings and
to build strong relationships. It’s the foundation of everything we do
at RentMore.”
Over the years, I’ve gathered a ton of stories. One that stands out is a time when we faced a hectic end-of-month turnover. The cleaning crew hadn’t shown up, and a tenant was arriving soon. In a pinch, we decided to clean the apartment ourselves. It was quite an experience, but I quickly realized that cleaning is best left to the professionals! We laugh about it now, but it’s a reminder of the dedication and teamwork we have here at RentMore.
My favorite part of the job is the variety – no two days are ever the same, and I love the unexpected challenges that arise.
One thing that stands out in my time at RentMore is the importance of communication. Clear communication is essential to avoid misunderstandings and to build strong relationships. In this job, I also get to use my language skills daily, which is a privilege. Being an expat myself, I appreciate the opportunity to connect with people from all over the world in different languages. It’s an exchange I truly value.”
